La globalizzazione avviata dall’intesa sinoamericana degli anni Settanta celebrava gli scambi culturali e accademici come funzionali al sostegno di una nuova socializzazione produttiva e culturale tra Cina e Occidente che allora rappresentava uno dei principali obiettivi per Washington.

      Dopo 50 anni si è chiuso un ciclo: la presenza degli studenti cinesi negli Stati Uniti viene percepita come la testa di ponte di un sistema subdolo e minaccioso diretto dal Partito comunista cinese.”
