In recent years, the international liberal order has undergone significant changes. In this context of extreme fluidity and unpredictability, two opposing camps have emerged. The first is led by the current US administration and opts for a “positional grand strategy” focused on deterring China. The other camp, which includes the EU and other like-minded countries, has a different “philosophy of security”.

Adopting a comparative approach and conducting close textual analysis, this study examines how these cultural productions construct narratives of belonging and alienation, shape public discourse and contribute to identity formation among Chinese communities in Europe, offering new perspectives on migration and cultural exchange.
Chinese diasporic communities are both sources and recipients of media narratives that describe and shape their relationship with Mainland China and its policies. Examining the contents through which these communities interact can help understand their influence on the contemporary cultural landscape, at a time when China is increasingly asserting its role in redefining global balances.
