French media on sixty years of Franco-Chinese relations

ChinaMed Observer 12

“While there exists in the minds of numerous international and Chinese commentators the notion that France leans more favorably towards China, through our analysis, we demonstrate that despite Paris exhibiting some willingness to cooperate with China as part of its objective of strategic autonomy, this anniversary is more dominated by growing hostility than collaboration as the two countries find themselves at the forefront of the escalating trade war between the EU and China.”

On the eve of the 60th anniversary of Franco-Chinese ties, Léa Gebuhrer & Leonardo Bruni (ChinaMed, T.wai) review the French media debate on economic relations with Beijing, as well as on Chinese engagement in Africa and the Middle East, for the ChinaMed Observer.
