Nel discorso pubblico italiano, il dibattito sull’inclusività del linguaggio, sulla narrazione mediatica delle minoranze e sulla crescente diversità etnica, culturale e religiosa delle società occidentali contemporanee tende a scivolare lungo binari prestabiliti, in una giostra di botta e risposta mai risolutivi. Da almeno trent’anni, su questi temi si gira in tondo, evitando accuratamente di trarre lezioni da un’accumulazione progressiva di mutamenti sociali e culturali che meriterebbe invece maggiore attenzione. Così, obiezioni di buon senso alla caricatura grossolana di minoranze significative a livello sociale, ma sottorappresentate nella riproduzione culturale del quotidiano, oppure sommessi inviti all’adozione di un linguaggio inclusivo, in contesti sociali ormai stabilmente multietnici e multireligiosi, sono ripetutamente ricondotti al cliché della “dittatura del politicamente corretto”.
