Our analysis of French, Algerian, and Tunisian media suggests that there is an understanding that China’s growing role in Morocco signals not only the end of a historical monopoly by the former colonial power in the Élysée – whether political, economic, or symbolic – but also the emergence of a new balance of power in the Maghreb.”
